Corbret's Pet Depot was open August 1968 on Walker road 400 sq. ft at only $50.00 a month rent(Presently Tile Town location) right across the street from our current location. ... Then we moved to Dougall (formally WOCO Plaza).We had 2 other small location 1 being in Amhurstburg Mall and on the intersection of Tecumseh & California. We were then approached by Devonshire Mall to open a location there in turn led to a store in all three malls (Tecumseh Mall, Universality Mall. We also had a store at Pickwick plaza, also took over the Big Als Aquarium service location ( across Tecumseh ) In 1995 Corbret’s made a decision to PURCHASE retail locations instead of leases and this proved to be the best move ever. We own one building on Tecumseh Rd east (former Mother’s Pizza, Club Alcatraz, My Place Rocks, Grizzly Creek Steak House). This Location is the present home of the newest All You Can Eat Sushi Tanka Sushi.
Now in 2012 we have the largest pet retail location in Windsor, Essex.. The Walker Rd store is well over 18,000 sq ft. and packed to the ceiling with product. Our Plaza is 7 buildings long and also houses The newest location of Access Fire Windsor. Corbret's is a small business leader in this community. One of only a hand-full of small owned family business left within Windsor, Essex.
The name Corbret's Pets was created by Mike & Linda Drouillard its a play on two of their sons names. Cory the middle son & Brett the oldest (Cor-Bret). The business is totally run by family. Mike the owner arrives at the store early in the morning doing paper work, book work and making order's to our many suppliers world-wide. At 65 he's fully involved in every aspect of the business and still going strong. Mike is joined at Corbret's by his three sons. Brett the oldest, Cory the middle child and Chad the Youngest. As kids, Brett , Cory and Chad Drouillard accompanied their parents to Costa Rica, Hawaii, Florida and other destinations, searching for responsible fish farms and exotic and domestic pet breeders to provide healthy stock for the family pet store. The brothers and their dad, are in Corbret’s Pet Depot daily, educating customers about the traits, care and feeding of ethically bred puppies, marine and tropical fish, exotic birds and many other pets available for purchase.
The shop also carries pet food, accessories, kennels, cages, supplies, habitats, treats, toys and the largest display of aquariums for 1 gallon up to 300 gallons and a huge selection of outdoor pond products.
A visit to Corbret’s Pet Depot is a great mood booster. Currently at play are adorable Yorkie, Shih-tzu, Boston, Pug and pups. Stealing the spotlight is a male English bulldog pup with wrinkles and a BIG SMILE.

Corbret’s Pets plays an active role with in
our city as well. We offer co-op to all the local high schools & youth groups including Maryville, Rossini Boys Home, New Beginnings and the Children’s Aid Society. We also have a few Brentwood Alum’s who make a point to participate in the yearly lottery draw and tickets are available in store every year. Coat’s for Kids, Annual Poppy drive, Toy’s for Tots, and many other charity fund raisers are help through our staff and customers. One of our biggest achievements is working with the local steps programs in the high schools. Help Kids with disabilities is always rewarding to us. Teaching them responsibly, social skills, and general interactions with public is very beneficial to these students. Staying active in the community is a very a large part of a successful business.
I do believe that Corbret’s has held it’s ground in Windsor, Essex for many years. Through the good and bad times they have stayed true to their city. This award would mean people still appreciate the small family run stores as well as you “Big Box” locations. People put their trust in us because we have many years of training, skill building, and experience along with great customer service. Every business has their up’s and downs but to stay strong for over 42yrs is one heck of a accomplishment in our books.
